Before we zone in on our Science experiment, have a peek at momstown's curriculum pillars. You will be amazed at the learning foundations that are made through each of our specially designed programs for children and families!
Now, with these educational Pillars in mind, let's see how momstown Belleville participants were able to explore different sensory materials, make discoveries, ask ALL of the questions they wanted to, and study how to melt snowmen – fer real, and hands-on!
LITTLE SCIENTIST'S MELTING SNOWMEN EXPERIMENT
WHAT YOU NEED:
WHAT YOU DO:
STEP 1: Freeze ice in several different sized
plastic containers. Freeze overnight. Dump out ice sculptures of your choice onto your tray. In this case, we made a shape in which we could stick on a snowman face. Spread baking soda all over the outside of your sculpture.
STEP 2: Stick 2 small black foam circles on top for snowman's eyes, and 1 small orange foam triangle for a nose.
STEP 3: Get your eye dropper (or turkey baster) ready! Place eye dropper (or turkey baster) in a cup of vinegar. Now, squirt your vinegar over top of your snowman. In seconds, your snowman will melt into a puddle of a 'fizzy' mixture of baking soda, vinegar, floating eye balls and topped with a carrot nose!
STEP 4: Watch and listen as your youngsters' eyes widen, and, sit back and be prepared to answer a whole lot of 'WHY?' questions!
