This morning at our monthly Art and Play Belleville moms and kids join us in the park to craft for Charity.
We had canvases and paint ready and waiting! The kids first painted their canvases and then it was on to the next stage of decoration. We had Quaker Oats to be glues onto their canvases followed by some glitter as a final touch.
Check out some of our great creations
So what is this all for? Well during our circle time (which also served as snack time while we enjoyed some Quaker Chewy Bars) we shared this important message.
"Did you know? 36 per cent of the estimated 1.7 million Canadians of those turning to food banks in 2013 were children and youth"
Quaker Chewy wanted to do something about this and has lauched a new program just in time for Back to School.
"Quaker Chewy is launching ChewyforCharity.ca to ask Canadians to create an online lunch bag by submitting photos of their child’s original artwork to ChewyForCharity.ca. Since Chewy is made with 100 per cent Canadian whole grain oats, they’re asking parents to have some fun with it too, by uploading Canadian-inspired designs.
For every piece of art submitted, Chewy will donate the equivalent of ten pounds of food to Food Banks Canada. An art gallery of the final submitted designs will be showcased on ChewyForCharity.ca.
Parents can choose to have the artwork printed on a customized canvas lunch bag, which can be shipped in time for the new school year."
Help out this great cause. Even if you did not join us at the Program today spend some time to craft with your kids and upload to chewyforcharity.ca!
